1. Set Goals
The best way to succeed is to start by setting short term goals and rewarding yourself as you work toward your long term goals.
2. Have Fun
Find ways to be active that are fun, and keep you interested. (i.e. Zumba, Kickboxing, etc.)
3. Track Your Progress
Whether you want to lose inches or gain them, it is important to track your progress. You can do this on paper or through pictures to see that your hard work really is paying off.
4. Have Support
Invite friends, significant others, kids, or co-workers to join you when you exercise. Having someone to spot you, encourage you, or someone just to talk to can makes all the difference on your fitness journey.
5. Reward Yourself
When you reach a goal reward yourself. Keep it fitness oriented with new workout shoes or a new outfit. Also remember to take the time to savor how great you feel when taking care of yourself. Internal rewards are just as important as external.
6. Be Kind To Yourself
If you’ve had a really busy day or you just don’t feel up to working out don’t beat yourself up about it. It’s okay to give yourself a break! Just get back on track as soon as you can.
7. Rise To The Occasion
Get up first thing in the morning, throw on your workout clothes and get your workout done. It’s a lot easier to talk yourself out of working out after a long day.
8. Have A Back Up Plan
Invest in an at home workout plan. On days when you don’t have an hour or more for the gym do a quick 30 minute home workout. Some exercise is better than none.
9. Keep Your Beats Fresh
Have you ever felt faster, stronger or more energized listening to music? Studies show that people do in fact perform better while listening to music.
10. Change It Up
Not only can doing the same thing over and over again become boring but your body can hit a plateau after doing the same workouts for so long. Change it up, challenge yourself and your body will continue to develop.
